Pros

1. Free Membership – Whether you want to be an employer to use eLance as a means to look for freelancers for projects or you are a freelancer looking to make a living, you can register on eLance for free. They don’t charge you anything except when you get paid for a job, and even then it’s still very low compared to other freelancer websites. This is great since the only capital you need to start working is the will and patience to find a job and any income you make is automatically profit since there is no costing.
2. Low Commission Rate – Freelance websites earn money by charging a commission on all the income a freelancer would make on a job. eLance does the same thing, but they charge a lower rate than other freelancer websites. eLance charges 8.75% commission meaning for every $100 you make, they take $8.75. This is small considering there are websites that charge up to 20% commission so they take $20 for every $100 you make.
3. Find Freelancers by Country/Name/Skill – Using eLance to find a freelancer is easy because they let you search by a specific skill that you need, or country you prefer and even by name if you know a freelancer or were referred one by a friend. If you are en employer looking for a Graphic Artist (for example) then you would just need to search via skills to see all the registered freelance graphic artist and make your choice on who to hire. This reduces the trouble for employers to look for freelancers to hire and gives freelancers of specific skills (or location and even by name) an easier way to land a job.
