Pricing and Features
HostMonster’s shared web hosting plan is the most ideal option for bloggers who are only at the starting out in the field, or those who have yet to gather a larger audience.
Basic Plan: $10.99 A Month
The Basic Plan is for users who are looking forward to build a single blog, since it only gives allocation for 1 website. You get 50 GB of storage and unmetered bandwidth, which means you can transfer data as much as you want as long as it falls within their normal usage.
But don’t fret, 99.95% of their customers do not exceed their allocated resources, and this definitely won’t be a problem if you aren’t using your blog to store large multimedia files or initiate file sharing activities within your website. This plan also includes 5 parked domains, 25 sub domains, 5 email accounts, with 100 MB each, and initially costs $4.95 a month.
Plus Plan: $14.99 A Month
Meanwhile, this plan offers 10 websites, unlimited storage space and databases, 20 parked domains, 50 sub domains, 100 email accounts with 50 MB of storage each, plus $150 worth of marketing credits and 1 SpamExperts account for spam prevention. It costs $6.95 a month for the first subscription period.
Prime Plan: $16.99 A Month
This plan will give you an unlimited number of websites, storage, databases, email accounts, and subdomains; free domain privacy for one domain; pro-grade site backups; and 1 SpamExperts account for spam prevention.
Pro Plan: $27.99 A Month
Lastly, the Pro Plan has an introductory price tag of $14.95 a month, with unlimited websites, disk space, bandwidth, parked domains, subdomains, email accounts, and email storage. It is also tweaked to give the highest performance out of all the three plans, with $300 worth of marketing credits, 2 SpamExperts accounts, SSL certificate good for one year, a dedicated IP address, 1 domain privacy, and backup protection with SiteBackup Pro.
They have several add-on products that you can purchase as needed by your website. These include additional domain names, dedicated IPs, SSL certificates, SpamExperts accounts, domain privacy, SiteLock, and Site BackUp and Restore Pro. For the exact amount of each of these products, you can check out their help page on regular rates.
Get Your Money Back If You Don’t Dig It
Customer satisfaction should always be a top priority in any type of service, moreso in an industry where any interruption in operations can lead to a significant potential loss on the part of the user. HostMonster lets their customers try out their service with zero risks by offering a 30-day money back guarantee.
In the event that you aren’t completely happy with their service, you can request for a refund within 30 days of subscription. If you have already exceeded 30 days, you will still receive a prorated refund if you cancel your account. This applies to all of their hosting packages, but not to domain fees and some add-on products. It is quite nice to know that you are not bound to lose your money if you do not enjoy their service, no matter how small the cost is.
HostMonster has a help center that houses articles on account setup, hosting guides, steps on getting started, even video tutorials to help each user get familiarized with the process. They also have a user forum where you can interact with other customers and exchange tips and ideas. To reach HostMonster’s support team, you can initiate a live chat session or call their hotline. Their technical representatives are available 24/7 to assist you with any concern or issue that you are experiencing.
What's the Verdict on HostMonster?
HostMonster Review 2020 – Conclusion
To summarize, HostMonster offers unlimited hosting only for their most expensive plan, as their cheaper plans carry a cap on storage and website allocation. While prices are reasonable for the first term of subscription, their regular rates are a bit steep, especially considering that some hosting providers offer a bunch of unlimited features for less the price. While they may not have the smallest storage allocation among the competition, putting a cap on this feature alone is a disadvantage already. Even more disheartening is their subpar page load performance.
On the plus side, they do have the Mojo Marketplace which contains more than a hundred apps to make your life a little easier, but if you have limited storage you may not be able to add all of the tools that you want. HostMonster may provide a decent service, but there is no doubt that you can find cheaper and better alternatives in the market with more jampacked features.
