Why Thumbtack?
Finding customers is very difficult in this very competitive world. No matter how unique you think your business is, there are dozens of similar businesses that offer the same services as yours. The key to a successful business is not just in delivering good quality products and services but being able to market your services and convert more leads into sales. Sometimes a good company can have more sales than a great company because they can market their business better.
Going online is a good start to better marketing of your business. Businesses who go online expose themselves to a wider market and get a broader client base. You just need the right tools to get the job done, and it is best to widen your horizon and not stick to one marketing service.
Thumbtack can help you find the right people that can help you with tasks that are related to sales lead generation. If you need someone to spread the word about your company on social media, or build your contact list, this is definitely a worthy candidate. Alternatively, if you are looking to get people to be interested in your company, you can also use this to land some jobs and build relationships with customers in the process.
All You Need are Credits
As we have mentioned earlier, signing up for Thumbtack is absolutely free as you only need to pay when you bid for jobs. When you bid for jobs, you use credits, and these credits are what you buy. Different jobs cost different amount of credits but you don’t need to worry about running out as you can buy credits as you are biding. Thumbtack also offers package deals for credits so you can buy them at a lower price per credit.
Get 10% off on credits is you buy 12 at a time, this would only cost you $17.99 (about $1.50 per credit). Their most popular package features 24 credits at a 12% discount as this only costs $34.99 ($1.47 per credit). You can save even more money if you buy 60 credits at a time as it would only cost $84.99 ($1.42 per credit).
Since one of the keys to business success is cutting down on costs, you should maximize every opportunity that you can save. Using Thumbtack would require credits and being able to save on the cost of credits can help you earn more on the jobs.

Thumbtack has changed the way they do business without letting the pros bidding on the leads know about the change. They used to limit the bids to only 5 but now it is wide open. You will have no idea how many others you are competing against. They do not tell you but they admitted on the phone that it can be numerous. You would think they would have the decency or the integrity to let the pros know the change in policy.
I have contracted painters, catering and carpet cleaning from thumbtack, the painting was satisfactory , but catering services through 24hourcatering was outstanding and D’s carpet cleaning did the best job I’ve ever hired for carpet. All of these providers were easy to work with and 5 star services.
We’re glad Thumbtack worked out for you, Donna! 🙂
Their basic premise simply drives profits down. People are purchasing by lowest price, which is the true incentive with this form of marketing. Not a fan. Wasted money trying to get clients with fair prices. People must be giving their work away just to get the job.
They should just have a membership service like GigSalad. I’d gladly pay a fixed price. I feel like I’d be spending more money than making profits while they sit back collect. They don’t even have the decency to have live chat or a phone service to answer any questions. Meh I’ll take my chances somewhere else.
