Vetted Consigners
As mentioned earlier, SnobSwap accepts two types of consigners: new boutiques or professional sellers. As such, you would have to have at least 50 items to sell in order to join the site. More than that, they also vet all of their sellers so buyers are assured that they are dealing with professionals and not out to make a quick buck. Unfortunately, this means that individual sellers who are simply looking to unclog their closets are less likely to be accepted here. They used to open their doors to all sorts of sellers, but they have since changed their policy. This is a win for buyers, but not so much for some sellers. Nevertheless, if you fit into their criteria, then you are in good hands – especially since they charge a minimal 15% commission.
Easy Purchasing
Purchasing items with SnobSwap is very easy since they offer 2 ways for you to do so. First is purchasing it for the listed price. Items are listed with the asking price of the seller, so if this is a price you are willing to take, then you can buy the item right away. This may be a good option to take especially for in demand items as someone might be willing to buy it at the asking price while you are still negotiating a lower one.
Speaking of which, that brings us to the second way of purchasing: making an offer to the seller. If you find the asking or posted price of an item too high or want to offer a trade, SnobSwap also allows you to do so. Just hit the Make Offer button so you can negotiate a lower price with the seller or offer a swap for an item you think they might be interested in. This allows you to get the best deal that you can and also allows the seller to potentially move items faster by accepting slightly lower prices. Of course this all depends if the seller will accept the offer made.
Payment
There are several options available to sellers. You can either have the money credited to your bank account or your PayPal account. If you want the proceeds to be deposited to your bank account, you just have to enter your bank information onto your account and it will be deposited 72 hours after a package has been tracked as delivered. The bank charges a transfer fee of $0.25 which is very minimal.
If you decide to use PayPal then you would need to connect your PayPal account to your SnobSwap account to facilitate the transfer. Turnaround time for transfers usually depends on PayPal but can take up to 2 days. There is also a processing fee of 2% of the total price to transfer your proceeds to PayPal.
Beyond that, they also accept payments from major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If you have Affirm, they also accept it as a mode of payment.
Mailing List Perks
If you also want to purchase clothes on SnobSwap, it would be a good idea to join their mailing list. This is because they provide a 10% promotion code on your first purchase of $100 or more. You get a maximum discount of $200, so joining their mailing list not only helps keep you abreast of all SnobSwap news and updates, but also helps you save.
Customer Support
SnobSwap offers good customer support with their FAQ section, email and telephone support options. They do not offer live chat support but the email and telephone support that they do provide are very helpful. The mailing address of their main office is also listed on their website should you want to mail in comments or suggestions.
What's the Verdict on SnobSwap?
SnobSwap Review 2020 – Conclusion
SnobSwap is a great place to sell your pre-loved designer clothes since it accepts a wide number of designer brands and charges a slightly lower commission than other consignment stores. You can list as many items as you want and sell items faster by agreeing to offers from buyers. As a buyer, there are many options to choose from in terms of style and type of clothing. That said, the fact that they don’t accept just any brand, or the fact that their doors aren’t open to everyone means that this is a pretty exclusive club. If you are an individual simply looking to sell your non-designer brand clothes, then you’d best look elsewhere.
One Comment
Currently, we only accept new boutiques or professional sellers. You have to have at least 50 items to join the site. There is a spelling error under Accepted Brands “tere” should be “there”. We do ship internationally and have shipped international since January 2016. Also, while there are minimal reviews, we vet all of our sellers, who are boutiques and professional sellers. How do I get Paid section is not relevant because we no longer allow individual sellers on the site. Under Easy Purchasing, we also offer 3 payment methods including major Credit Cards, PayPal, and Affirm. Additionally, we offer live support periodically throughout the day. Also, if you join our mailing list, you get a 10% promotion code on your first purchase of $100+ (max $200 discount). Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.
