Intuit, an American software company, developed Quickbooks to provide accounting and finance services, targeting mostly small based and medium-sized businesses. The company was founded in 1983 by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx in Mountain View, California, and has given birth to other applications like Quicken and TurboTax. Currently, Quickbooks is their main offer for companies who would want to have an easier and more inexpensive method of handling financial procedures.

Pricing and Features

Quickbooks offers 3 tiers of plans for their online service. These are Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus. Simple Start includes sending of unlimited estimates and invoices, downloading transactions from your bank account and credit cards, printing checks and recording transactions, importing from Excel or Quickbook desktop, data back-up, security and encryption of data, accessing your profile from a smartphone or tablet, and the ability to integrate with available applications. This subscription offers access to one user with more than 20 business reports, and costs $12.95.

The Essentials package includes all of the above mentioned features, with the addition of automatic billing on a recurring schedule, managing and paying bills from vendors, scheduling payments, comparing sales and profitability with industry access, and the ability to control what your users can access. This plan gives access to 3 users, and can generate more than 40 different built-in reports, and costs $26.95.

Lastly, the Plus plan includes all of the aforementioned features plus creation and sending of purchase orders, inventory tracking, preparing and printing 1099s, giving employees and subcontractors limited access to enter time worked, tracking billable hours per customer, creating budgets to estimate future income and expenses, categorizing your income and expenses using class tracking, and tracking sales and profitability for each of your locations. You can have up to 5 people accessing the software, with more than 65 different reports. This premium package costs $39.95 a month, a real steal considering the contents and features included.

Quickbooks has a highly detailed and organized support and FAQ page complete with video tutorials to assist you in their features. You can also call their customer service hotline to communicate directly to their support team. They also have social media accounts in Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube, and LinkedIn.
